This roasted barley tea is a new version of Japanese mugicha. This traditional caffeine-free drink is perfect as an iced tea.

Mugicha, also known as barley tea, is a very popular drink in Japan that dates back centuries. Made from roasted barley grains, it has a unique and very refreshing flavour.

Suggestion of preparation

Prepare this herbal tea warm: 


With the teapot or the tasting set: 5 minutes in water heated to 195°F.


Prepare this tea iced: 

In a teapot or a carafe: infuse 8 g per 50 cl of water at room temperature for 30 minutes. Remove the mugicha and store in the fridge.

This is a strange experience, drinking this 'tea'. I do not like coffee and this sort of tastes like coffee. It sort of confuses my tastebuds, but I am quite happy with it drinking it. It will not be my everyday cup but I do appreciate it's different than other things that I have.

Bland, not at all like the rich, roasted mugicha I drank so often in Japan. Really disappointing.
